Fire Safety is an interactive multimedia educational program for teaching fire safety to children.

Teaching kids about fire safety is an essential part of early education. According to “Safe Kids”, in 2002, 474 children ages 14 and under died in residential fires. Nearly 40,000 children are injured in home fires each year. More than 70% of all fire-related deaths are from smoke inhalation caused by toxic gases produced as fires develop and spread. Flames and burns are responsible for the remaining 30% of fire-related deaths.

By implementing memorably characters in a positive setting, I believe this product could help save lives.

Although the subject is extremely serious it has been presented in a way that is both entertaining to kids and helpful in teaching. The style of interaction is similar to that of a DVD movie menu. Users navigate by clicking large buttons with easy to read labels. They then listen and watch for prompts to guide them on what to do. When they have finished exploring the program they can then take a quiz to see how much they remember.
